A Hand-Held Soap Cavity Is Not a Production Tray

The clip is one square cavity, peeled in a hand. The still at the top is a frame from that RUUIPON channel short. You can see an open pocket, a shallow mark on the floor, and a bit of soap at the lip. That is a peel check on a single bar.

A loaf you cut later, and a multi-cavity sheet you carry full, are different tools. Bar, loaf, and logo depth are on the soap mold design guide. This page only separates the hand-held cavity from a production tray.

What the Hand Peel Shows

The geometry in the frame is flat-backed and open. On the RUUIPON Mold Structure Decision that stays a one-piece cavity: the bar leaves by peeling the rubber, not by opening a split. A sculpted bar with a return edge or a closed handle leaves this page. That one needs a slit or a keyed split before anyone talks Shore.

What the peel can show:

• the lip flexes enough to start the bar;
• the cavity is a single pocket, not a sheet of them;
• a shallow floor mark is in the rubber. Whether that mark survives in the soap depends on the formula and when you demold.

What it cannot show: sale weight, a 12-up span, or how fragrance oil treats the cavity after a month of batches.

Three Tools People Mix Up

Typical shop split. Weights are stages, not a promise that CAD grams equal the bar on the shelf.

Cold-process soap often loses water while it cures. A 100 g pour and a 100 g bar on the shelf are not the same target. Melt-and-pour sits closer to the poured weight. Say which process you run before we size the pocket.

Shore After the Bar

A simple open bar is often talked through around 15A-25A so the lip peels without tearing a soft cold-process bar. A thin wall on a long tray, held flat by a board or a pan, is often closer to 20A-30A, because the support stops the flex the single cavity was using.

We lock that after bar depth and tray span. The hand in the video is not the load a full sheet sees.

We Would Not Read This Clip as a Spec

We would not:

• call this cavity a food-contact mold. Soap is not a food pour. FDA and LFGB papers do not transfer from a chocolate tray onto this tool;
• price a 6-up or a loaf from a screenshot of one pocket;
• treat the shallow floor mark as a finished logo. Send the artwork at bar size if the face has to stay readable;
• use one Shore for cold process and melt-and-pour;
• promise a cycle count from a peel in a hand.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the mold in the video a production tray?

No. It is one square cavity in a hand. A production tray is the count, the span, and the full weight.

Can the same cavity run cold process and melt-and-pour?

Sometimes the pocket shape can. The peel, the cure, and the weight you are chasing usually cannot. Name the process.

Will the mark on the cavity floor show on every bar?

Only if the soap is firm enough at demold and the mark is deep enough at that bar size. A faint floor mark in a short is not an artwork approval.

Do I need food-contact papers for a soap mold?

Not from this clip. Soap is not a food pour. If a later SKU is actually a food cavity, that is a different compound and a different document pack.

How many bars should one tray hold?

Start from the bar and from how you carry the full sheet. More pockets on a soft span make the carry worse before they make the day faster.
