Ozone Cracking of RTV Tools on the Shelf | RUUIPON

Ozone from motors and UV lamps cracks RTV on the shelf. How to spot it vs UV yellow vs tin shrink. Typical shop values. Archive the master too.

Ozone Cracking of RTV Tools on the Shelf | RUUIPON

Ozone from brushed motors, some UV-C lamps, and corona equipment attacks platinum and tin RTV on the shelf even if you never dumped again. You see fine surface cracks, often on stretched lips and the outside of a folded glove, while an unused spare in a far tote still looks new. That is not UV yellowing (color without a crack network) and not tin leftover shrink (keys walking). Move the library off the compressor room. A dummy holds shape; it does not eat ozone. Food trays still stay dry — no grease "coating" as an ozone barrier, no tin.

RUUIPON pours platinum tools in Bao'an since 2018. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock. MOQ 20 pieces per design. USD $50 when CAD scope applies. [email protected] · +86 135 3006 2969. LSR *parts*: wydsilicone.com.

Does not apply when the cracks are knife nicks, when the face is tacky inhibition, or when you stored the tray in a dishwasher. Don't call ozone an FDA-approved-factory issue; 177.2600 is extraction of the article you still have to keep intact.

Symptom, cause, confirm, fix

Symptom: fine cracks on lips, folds, and the back of a glove that sat near a motor. Face may still dump once, then tear.

Cause: ozone plus strain. Folded storage makes it worse.

Confirm: spare from the same PO stored in another room is uncracked. Cracks follow stretch lines, not a logo serif (serif tears are geometry).

Fix: recast from the unsanded master. Move storage. Don't coat food wells with oil as a "barrier." Don't spec tin as tougher — tin still cracks and still isn't food.

UV yellow is a color clock (next page). Oil bleed is a different age face. Keep the diagnoses separate.

The photo that would prove ozone: cracked lip next to an uncracked spare from another room, motor location noted on a card. A beauty shot of a warehouse door is not that photo.

Library layout we actually ask for

Don't park RTV totes against air compressors, laser corona treaters, or UV-C "sterile" cabinets. Cavity-up, no key-stacking, food and craft split. Archive the master in a different place so a cracked library still recasts. Tooling charge is not a promise we store your skins next to our pumps.

ISO 3302-1 M2 is a dump class. Cracked lips fail the dump before class matters.

If you must store in a mixed shop, a closed polyethylene bag is a weak ozone buffer, not a spec. Don't perfume the bag. Don't grease the well inside the bag.

Food recast after ozone: platinum, dry, no tin, wash, rest. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock if geometry also moves; otherwise recast on locked CAD. MOQ 20 per design.

A folded glove is a stretched glove. Store open, dummy in undercuts if they kiss, still away from ozone.

Ozone versus a "sterile" UV-C cabinet on a food line

Buyers park trays in a UV-C box because someone said it sanitizes silicone. UV-C makes ozone and yellows clears; it is not a 177.2600 step and it is not a dishwasher replacement. Food trays: wash SOP you name, dry, dark shelf away from the lamp. We would not spec UV-C storage. We would not grease after UV-C "to reseal" cracks.

Compressor rooms in Bao'an summers also run hot; heat plus ozone plus a folded glove is the fastest crack. Prototype recast is 3–7 business days after CAD lock only if we must change geometry; a straight recast from a locked master is a recast clock, still MOQ 20 to refill a pack.

If cracks already print into chocolate, retire the skin. Don't fill cracks with caulk. Don't spec tin as a cheaper cracked spare.

A printed or FRP jacket can hide back-face cracks until the lip goes. Inspect the lip, not only the logo. Dummy out, raking light, compare to a drawer spare.

Keep latex bands off the tote; sulfur plus ozone is a stacked insult. Platinum recast, mix 1:1 or 10:1 by weight, vacuum, dry well.

Worked example (anonymized)

Platinum ~20A PU gloves stored on a shelf over a compressor. Lips cracked in three months; a spare in the office drawer did not. We recast from the master, moved the tote, no $50 CAD. MOQ 20. Food trays were already on another wall.

Rotation skins sitting on the same compressor shelf will crack together. Move first, then recast the pack. A dummy in a cracked lip tears on the way out — recast before you dummy again.

Export crates next to a generator on a dock are an ozone hour you don't see. Pack, then move, then store. Don't leave the crate as the library.

One procurement mix-up

Blaming "cheap silicone" when two storage rooms disagree. Chemistry is the same PO; ozone is location. Charge ≠ a cracked-skin warranty if you stored them on the motor.

We would not recommend

We would not recommend oiling food wells as ozone armor.

We would not recommend UV-C cabinets as mold storage.

We would not recommend tin food recasts after ozone.

We would not recommend folding gloves "to save space" next to pumps.

What to ask when you're buying

  • Where will the library sit relative to motors and UV-C?
  • Master archive separate from the skin tote?
  • Dummy for undercuts, still ozone-away?
  • Recast qty if cracks already started?
  • Food vs craft split in that room?

Matched next step: send cracked-vs-spare photos and where the tote sat. We recast platinum skins and will not oil chocolate as armor. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock. MOQ 20 per design.

Witness after recast: uncracked lip, spare stored off the motor wall, food well dry, master still tagged. Don't multiply a cracked pack to MOQ 20 until storage moves.

Food recasts stay platinum, mix 1:1 or 10:1, vacuum, ungreased wells. Cracked tin craft tools are a named recast, not a chocolate spare.

FAQ

Can I wipe ozone cracks with oil and keep dumping chocolate? We would not. Cracks are tear starters and oil is a film. Recast, dry well, no tin.

Is ozone the same as window UV? No. UV yellows; ozone cracks. A window plus a motor can do both.

Do dummies prevent ozone cracks? No. They hold undercuts. Move the shelf.

Will a harder Shore resist ozone? Strain still cracks lips. Storage first, Shore second.

If only the folded glove cracked, recast all MOQ 20? Recast the cracked ones; move storage before you multiply the rest. Don't ship a cracked food pack.
