Silicone Ice Tray: A Hand Press Is Not a Full Load

A hand on a square-cavity sheet shows the wall can take a push. It does not show a full tray of water or a cycle count. Send cube size and the full weight.

Silicone Ice Tray: A Hand Press Is Not a Full Load

Cube tray that stays flat under hand pressure

Hand press on a square-cavity sheet. Wall and bottom thickness keep the tray from collapsing - not a cycle-life number.

Watch this clip on YouTube

A palm on an empty square-cavity sheet tells you the walls stay open under a hand. The still at the top is a frame from that RUUIPON channel clip. Wall thickness and bottom thickness are what keep those pockets from folding shut in the push.

That push is a bench check. A full tray of water, a walk to the freezer, and a demold after the cubes are rigid are three other checks. The slogan on the short is a caption. It is not a test method, and it is not a cycle count we will put on a quote.

Cube size, a lid, a logo, and clear ice sit on the ice mold design guide. This page is only the stiffness clip.

What the Palm Checks

The sheet in the clip is an open square layout. Flat back, pockets on one face, no lid in the frame. For that geometry the RUUIPON Mold Structure Decision stays on an open-back tray. A sphere, a spear, or a lidded cube leaves this page and goes back to the design guide, because the split and the fill path change before Shore does.

What you can see in the press:

  • the cavity mouths stay open under a palm;
  • the sheet does not buckle into a U while the hand is on it;
  • the webs between squares are thick enough to take that local load.

You cannot see cube volume, water mass, or how the same sheet behaves at freezer temperature. Silicone usually feels stiffer once it is cold. A room-temperature push does not stand in for the twist an operator uses to free rigid ice.

What Still Has to Be Weighed

Typical shop values. The water row is an example, not a reading from this clip.

Local wall stiffnessPockets stay open under a handCube depth and web thickness on the drawing
Full waterNot in the clipExample: 24 cubes at about 30 ml is about 720 g of water, before the rubber
Long spanNot measured hereA large unsupported sheet can sag about 0.5-1.5 mm once it is loaded. That is a shop observation on big trays, not a number from this video
Freezer demoldNot in the clipWho twists the sheet, and whether the ice chips before the rubber peels
Platinum shrinkNot visible in a pressLinear shrink on platinum RTV is often about 0.1-0.3%. That does not explain a tray that folds when you lift it full

If the outside span is long and there is no pan under the sheet, more cavities make the carry worse. A support pan or a stiffer border often beats "make the whole skin harder" when the only failure is edge sag.

Shore After the Span

An open cube sheet is often talked through in a 15A-30A band. Softer rubber peels a deeper cube. Stiffer rubber carries a longer span. A thin wall held by a rigid jacket is a different talk, often 20A-30A, because the jacket stops the peel that a soft glove was counting on.

We lock Shore after cube depth, outside size, and how the full tray is carried. We do not lock it from a thumbnail of a hand.

We Would Not Quote the Caption

We would not:

  • treat the on-screen line about stress testing as a lab method;
  • promise the sheet never collapses after you add water;
  • raise Shore only so the empty tray looks firm on camera, then watch a deep logo chip the ice;
  • hand you this clip as a food-contact document. Ice touches water that people drink. Food-contact papers depend on the compound and the market. Ask for them on food-safe silicone molds;
  • use this square sheet as the tool for a sphere, a popsicle, or a flower cavity.

RUUIPON pours the RTV tray in Bao'an, Shenzhen, and has since 2018. Production is MOQ 20 pieces per design. A simple 3D model is USD 50 when that CAD scope applies. A prototype is 3-7 business days after CAD lock. None of those numbers come from how hard the hand pushes in the video.

Send This With the Cube

If you want this square family, send:

  1. cube size, or a photo with a scale;
  2. target cavity count and the largest tray you can get into the freezer;
  3. whether a lid, a logo, or a split is required;
  4. who carries the full tray, and how far;
  5. the market if you need food-contact papers.

We review wall, bottom, and span before we price the tray. The product page is custom silicone ice molds. Shop scope is on the Shenzhen manufacturer page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the hand press mean the mold passed a stress test?

No. It shows a palm on an empty square sheet. A stress test would name the load, the span, the fill, and the temperature. This clip does not.

Will a harder Shore stop a full tray from sagging?

Sometimes the border or a pan under the sheet does more than a Shore bump. Send the outside size and the water weight. We say which one is the limiter.

Is the tray food-contact because the video shows ice cubes?

The clip is not a document. Food-contact papers may be available for the selected compound and the destination market. Confirm that pack before the first shipment.

Can you copy the square layout in the video?

Only if your cube size and count are actually that layout. Send the cube. Do not freeze a screenshot and call it the drawing.

How many cycles will this tray last?

We do not publish a cycle count from a press clip. Life depends on the rubber, the cube depth, how hard it is twisted, and what you wash it with.
