Sea Turtle Silicone Garden Mold: Custom OEM for Stepping Stones
Custom sea turtle silicone garden molds for concrete stepping stones and resin yard art. Shore A, scute depth, MOQ 20, prototype 3-7 days - RUUIPON.
On this page
You bought a marketplace sea turtle silicone garden mold. First cement pour: the shell scutes fill with flash, a flipper tears on peel, or the piece rocks on the path because the belly is not flat. That is a geometry problem, not a mixing problem. RUUIPON builds custom platinum-cure tools in Shenzhen (since 2018) at MOQ 20 per design so a brand can lock one turtle SKU before ordering a warehouse of trays.
We do not sell a stock turtle from a catalog card. You send a photo, STL, or a competitor piece you want to improve. Complete RFQs typically get a number in about 24 hours. Prototypes commonly take 3-7 days after CAD lock. When the job needs cavity modeling, we can open with about $50 USD drawing deposit so you mark the 3D before the tooling balance.
What Fails on a Catalog Turtle Mold
Garden buyers do not return a stepping stone because Shore A was 2 points off. They return it because the flipper snapped, the logo on the shell is a smear, or the stone will not sit on gravel. We see the same three failures on first samples:
- Scute depth too shallow - concrete or resin does not hold the hex pattern after a light sand.
- Undercut flippers - no draft, so you tear the cavity or the cast on demold 3.
- Soft Shore on sand mix - a 20A hobby kit feels nice in the photo and abrades fast on cement.
If you already pour resin or wax in other SKUs, keep the turtle as its own tool. Do not reuse a food-contact chocolate tray for cement. Concrete notes live in the concrete and Jesmonite Shore guide.
What You Are Actually Ordering
A sea turtle garden mold is a flexible silicone cavity shaped like a turtle, used to cast a stepping stone, planter accent, shelf ornament, or resin piece. After cure you peel the silicone. That is the whole product: one tool you can run on a bench, not a finished painted turtle from a gift factory.
Typical jobs we quote for brands and makers:
- Concrete or cement path stones
- Resin yard art with pigment or glitter
- Plaster gifts (indoor - not a weather claim)
- Terrazzo-style mixes (chips raise abrasion - tell us the aggregate)
Candle bases in a turtle cavity are possible in wax. Say so on the RFQ so we do not spec a concrete-hard Shore that fights a wax pour. Resin cavity rules also sit on custom silicone resin molds.
Shore A for Concrete vs Resin
Do not start at 20-25A just because a listing called it "easy peel." That band is for sticky food or deep undercuts. Cement with sand wants a firmer wall. Use the Shore A chooser with the table below as a start - we confirm after we see your mix.
| Pour | Shore A start | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Epoxy / PU resin art | 20-30 | Peel without tearing thin flippers |
| Fine plaster | 25-35 | Detail, low abrasion |
| Jesmonite / fine cement | 30-40 | Holds scutes, still peels |
| Sand-heavy concrete | 40-50 | Abrasion; expect shorter mold life |
Platinum-cure (addition-cure) is what we pour for these tools. Tin-cure kits you buy for a one-off master are a different product. Walls typically land in the 2.5-5 mm band so the cavity does not collapse when you lift a 20-40 cm stone.
Scutes, Flippers, and Size
Send length (nose to tail), width, and how thick you want the stone. We can quote from about 10 cm accent pieces up through 40-60 cm statement stones. Oversized landscaping pieces are a custom quote - shipping and pour weight change the wall, not just the pretty length number.
| Length band | Typical use | Watch-outs |
|---|---|---|
| 10-15 cm | Shelf, gift, small resin | Flipper thickness so they survive demold |
| 20-30 cm | Path accent, small planter pad | Flat belly; edge margin so the rim does not fold |
| 40-60 cm | Yard statement stone | Pour weight, handle points, Shore for cement |
Brand mark on the shell: treat it like any other logo. Too shallow and it washes after the first grind. Depth and emboss vs deboss follow the same mm logic we use on chocolate and resin trays - if the mark is the SKU, say so before CAD. Logo wash-out is a different post; for turtles we still need a number, not "make it pop."
Color of the mold (Pantone on the silicone) is available when you need operators to grab the right SKU. It does not change the cast color. Your concrete stain or resin pigment is a separate spec.
What You Can Pour
| Material | Fits a turtle garden tool? | Note |
|---|---|---|
| Concrete / cement | Yes - most path jobs | Release agent often yes; confirm the brand |
| Epoxy resin | Yes | Pigment, glitter, embeds - tell us max exotherm |
| Plaster | Yes - indoor | Fast set; not a patio weather claim |
| Wax | Possible | Different Shore than a sand mix |
Garden / concrete tools do not need food-contact papers. If you also sell a chocolate or baking SKU on the same PO, ask for material and test documentation for that compound and destination. We do not call a stepping-stone tool "FDA-certified."
How We Quote a Turtle Tool
- Send length, photo or STL, pour (cement / resin / plaster / wax), and target qty.
- We reply with DFM notes and a quote (typically ~24h on a complete RFQ).
- If CAD is required, about $50 drawing deposit when that path fits - see the cavity drawing before full payment.
- You mark the 3D. Then prototype, usually 3-7 days after lock.
- Approve the sample. Production from MOQ 20. Factory path: custom silicone mold manufacturer.
We do not publish a universal unit price or a 15% volume ladder here. Mix, size, and cavity count move the number. WhatsApp +86 135 3006 2969 or contact with the files.
FAQ
Can one sea turtle mold run concrete and resin?
Often yes if Shore and release match the harsher pour. A sand mix will wear the cavity faster than epoxy. If you run both, we may spec toward the abrasive job.
How many casts will it last?
We do not print a "500+ cycle" guarantee. Concrete abrasion and how you demold set life. Softer Shore and sharp undercuts fail first. Ask for a care note with the sample.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. Method (express vs sea) depends on tray count and size. Packing notes go on the commercial invoice with the product description.
Can you change an existing turtle design?
Send the current mold or a scan. We can add draft, thicken flippers, or cut a brand mark - after we see what is tearing today.
What if I need a dolphin or frog next?
Same process, new CAD. Do not assume the turtle Shore copies to a thin-fin fish. Quote each shape.
