What You Can Cast in Custom RTV Mold Tools | RUUIPON

You can dump resin, polyurethane, UV resin, wax, soap, plaster, concrete, chocolate, gummy, and similar pours into a custom RTV mold — if the cavity chemistry, Shore, jacket, and cabinet match that pour. One cavity, one dump family. A platinum chocolate tray that later sees epoxy is retired from food. A concrete skin that later sees soy wax will smell and abrade wrong. "What can I cast" is a cabinet question, not a yes/no for all liquids.

RUUIPON pours the tool in Bao'an / Shajing since 2018. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock. Production MOQ 20 pieces per design. Simple 3D is USD $50 when that CAD scope applies. Mix 1:1 or 10:1 by weight; platinum shrink about 0.1–0.3% after full cure. LSR/HCR *parts* are not dumps into a mold — wydsilicone.com.

Does not apply when you want to cast molten aluminum or a foundry alloy into RTV. That is the wrong temperature family — see dump temp vs oven. It also does not apply to CBD/THC as a medical claim; we tool the cavity only.

Cabinets: food, resin, wax/soap, plaster/concrete

Food. Platinum cavity, wash SOP, article path (21 CFR 177.2600 extraction and/or LFGB / BfR XV). Chocolate, gummy, baking, ice — still separate *use* SOPs even inside food. We would not dual-use chocolate and ice without a written wash split.

Resin / PU / UV. Platinum default for library tools. Seal SLA masters. Hot exotherm is a temperature RFQ, not a "silicone is fine" shrug. Related: PU resin, epoxy.

Wax / soap. Platinum for odor and recast. Tin leftover smell shows up in unscented soy. Related: soap loaf, candle/soap solutions.

Plaster / concrete. Soft skin plus jacket. Abrasion spends cycle life. Dirty masters may tempt tin; write disposable if you go that way.

The photo that would prove a cabinet split: two tagged bins, food trays vs resin tools, no mixed dump cups. A single pretty cavity photo does not prove dual-use is allowed.

Hot PU, isomalt, and baking ovens are three different peaks. Name °C. Do not assume a baking-mold story covers a resin exotherm.

CBD/THC gummies: we cut cavities and depositor nests. We do not write dose.

One cavity, one dump family

Purchasing loves "one mold for chocolate and resin merch." We would not. Residue, odor, docs, and Shore fights you. Recast a second skin from the unsanded master if you need both SKUs.

Jewelry lost-wax is its own cabinet: wax in, metal later in a *foundry* flask, not in the RTV. We will pour a platinum jewelry mold for wax; we will not rate that same rubber for the burnout oven. Say wax on the RFQ.

Planters and vessels add a core conversation. Hollow dumps need a registered core so walls do not float. That is still one dump family (plaster or concrete or resin) plus structure, not a reason to share with food.

If your copacker changes pectin to gelatin, you may keep the same food tray with a Shore/peel check. If they add a resin merch run at Christmas, that is a second tool. Write the family on the bin so a seasonal operator does not "just try it." ISO 3302-1 M2 is a size class on whichever dump you named, not a license to mix cabinets.

A tooling charge is not unrestricted ownership of a "universal" cavity. If you need both a food mascot and a resin merch mascot, pay for two skins from the same unsanded master and keep the bins apart.

Concrete sealer, form-release, and acid stains belong on the dump, not as a way to "clean" a food tray after a construction-show demo. Once mineral and food have met, recast food from the master.

Witness the named dump, not a universal liquid

Witness dump of the named chemistry at the named peak °C. Check release, odor, tear, size. If you later change dump family, call it a new use — recast or retire. We do not publish fake chemical-resistance tables.

Low-melt metals, glass, and ceramics above the drum’s dump band are out. Ask. Typical shop platinum handles many craft pours at room or modest heat; it is not a foundry flask.

Dumps we would not put in the same tool

We would not recommend epoxy in a chocolate tray you will return to dessert.

We would not recommend molten metal in RTV.

We would not recommend tin for a food cabinet.

We would not recommend a dirty sulfur-clay master for a library food tool.

Worked example: mascot asked as one mold for three dumps

Brand wanted one mascot for chocolate bars, PU keychains, and concrete garden stones. Three RFQs, three cabinets, three structures (open-back tray; keyed split with jacket; skin plus plaster mother). Prototype 3–7 business days after each CAD lock. USD $50 3D applied once to rebuild the mascot. Production MOQ 20 per design × three designs. The "one mold" ask would have retired the food tray on day one of PU.

Residue and docs. The other mix-up is treating "silicone mold" as a foundry license.

Questions that lock the cabinet

FAQ

Can I pour epoxy in my chocolate mold once? We would not put that tray back on food. Recast a resin tool from the master.

Can RTV take plaster and then soap? Possible as chemistry, messy as cabinet. Plan two skins if both SKUs matter.

What about UV resin? Usually platinum, watch inhibition from the master, and do not share with food.

Can I cast ice in a gummy tray? Only with a wash/doc split we would still hesitate to recommend. Two trays are cleaner.

If I paid tooling, can I change dump family later? You can recast a new skin. A tooling charge is not a license to mix cabinets on the same face.
