If you're planning the next decade of food-grade silicone *molds*, it isn't a new polymer. It's a stricter RTV article. Buyers will still want platinum RTV chocolate tools, gummy sheets, bake cavities, and ice spheres, filed under 21 CFR 177.2600 and LFGB / BfR XV. What changes is that cousin certificates, universal 230 C cartons, and grit-pad care lines get harder to ship. Tin-cure RTV stays a mold rubber for resin. LSR cups and HCR mats stay molded *parts* on a different quotation. The finished, post-cured, uncut face stays the unit of test.

Dual-market files, commercial maps, recast, uncut faces
Private label that sells US and a European grocery now asks for both methods on the same cavity, same color, same post-cure. That doesn't merge the flasks. Water and n-hexane ceilings remain the US tables; volatiles, acetic/ethanol simulants, and organoleptic remain the German stack. ISO 10993 will keep showing up as a status object. It will still be the wrong file for cake.
The volume that needs tooling investment is commercial: cavity maps that match depositors, pan envelopes, stack heights, ice spheres that release without a fork. Platinum RTV remains the sampling and mid-volume path. Mixing RTV, LSR, and HCR on one certificate will get less acceptable. Color freeze becomes default. Recast against a living master is how logos change without new steel. Reuse only works if the food-contact face survives — a scored face isn't a repaired face.
None of that requires a new elastomer family. FSR stays out of the kitchen. Extrusion tubing stays a different process. Labs will digitize portals; a renamed PDF still accepts a cousin. Shops that already chart post-cure ovens will email the charts. Shops that bake nested cups in a closed pile will have nowhere to hide.
Common mix-up: plant-based or recycled silicone as the next food-grade shortcut
Marketing will try. In the shop that usually means a new feedstock is a new specimen. Recycle streams from industrial lots are a contamination risk, not a carton shortcut. Food-contact still lands on the finished RTV cavity.
What to ask when you're buying a "next-decade" mold program
- Dual-market: both 177.2600 and BfR XV on this SKU, color, post-cure?
- Cavity map for the pan or depositor you actually run?
- Recast clause and master ownership written, not assumed from a tooling charge?
- Care line that forbids abrasive "restoration"?
- Are LSR part tools mixed onto this RTV certificate?
Worked example: dual-market gummy sheet, recast-ready
A confectioner wants a 36-cavity worm sheet, 12 mm, fruit-acid, US plus Germany, about 5,000 dumps a month, seasonal logo next year. Future-proof RFQ: CNC master (customer-owned or shop copy stated), keyed platinum RTV, rigid depositor frame, both flasks on that color, recast of the face included for the logo change, no grit on the care card. Don't wait for a new gum. Don't wait for a single global test.

Will a single global silicone food-contact test replace FDA and LFGB? Not in the near RFQ. US 177.2600 and German BfR XV stacks measure different things. Combined lab packages still report both logics. Dual-market means both.
Is plant-based or recycled silicone the next food-grade material? Marketing will try. Food-contact still lands on the finished article. Recycle from industrial lots is a contamination risk. Any new feedstock is a new specimen.
