How to RFQ a Two-Part Figurine Mold

If you are RFQing a two-part figurine mold, send the seam faces, the dump chemistry, and a structure call - not a mood-board STL and a hope the shop will guess the shut. On this site the path is photos, sketch, or CAD, then a 3D-printed pattern, often a temporary silicone flip, a resin production mother, then batch RTV. The mother is not the pattern. Free DFM. Copy-pack fields that actually price a split

Height and widest undercut. Seam faces you will accept (and faces you will not). Dump: PU, resin, wax, plaster, chocolate. Peak temperature. Hollow vs solid; core pull path if hollow. Platinum vs named tin. Shore band. Jacket / mother-mold support shell yes/no. Who archives the living mother. Food-contact path if the dump is food: 21 CFR 177.2600 and/or LFGB sections 30/31.

If your email still says "master, box, keys, jacket" as the RFQ, you are listing shop furniture. Name the structure: two-part, plug, or inner core. Molded keys as an engineering register on a split are fine to discuss. They are not a buyer pitch stack.

Failure: RFQ said no flash, one piece

A closed letter, a bail, or arms that wrap the torso will not peel as a one-piece glove without tearing islands. No flash, one piece on that geometry is a refuse. We will not quote it as a first run. Open the letter or accept a shut on a face you can sand on the dump.

Common mix-up: figurine mold means a one-piece glove always

Some figurines peel. Some need a two-part. Structure Decision: if it will not peel without tearing 10A-20A, split it. A later HCR or LSR part of the same mascot is a different RFQ.

Typical shop values

Reference values only. Confirm material-specific limits against the supplier’s technical data and agree project acceptance criteria before production.

Worked example: 120 mm mascot, photos, PU

A buyer sent phone photos of a 120 mm mascot and asked for a one-piece glove, no flash, PU. Free DFM named a two-part because the arms wrapped. USD 50 covered the CAD that the photos lacked. After CAD lock: pattern, often a flip, resin production mother, platinum batch RTV, PU witness. Production MOQ 20. The shut sat on the back, not on the face.

FAQ

Can every figurine be a one-piece glove? No. If arms, letters, or bails will tear a 10A-20A lip, we split it.

Do I get a free quote from photos only? Free DFM from photos, a sketch, or CAD. A priced production sheet still needs a nameable split and a CAD lock. We will not put Free Quote on this page.

Are molded keys required on the RFQ? You need a named register if the mold splits. Molded keys are an engineering term. Listing them in a master/box/keys/jacket pitch stack is not a design package.

Can you make the figurine as an LSR part? That carton is a different RFQ - ask us. This page is the pour cavity.

What is MOQ and the prototype clock? MOQ 20 pieces per design after approval. Prototype usually 3-7 business days after CAD lock. DFM is free. CAD revision about USD 50 when we edit your 3D.
