Why Your Brand Logo Washes Out of Silicone Molds (And How to Keep It)
Brand logo washes out or skips in custom silicone molds? Fix logo depth, emboss vs deboss, Shore A, and pour temp with mm numbers - MOQ 50 from RUUIPON.

On this page
A candle brand approved a sample where the logo looked fine, then production wax came back with blank discs. Same tray, same logo. The shop answer was "pour cooler." The real answer: silicone mold brand logo washes out when the mark band, emboss choice, and Shore A fight the pour.
RUUIPON builds brand trays in Shenzhen (since 2018) at MOQ 50, with prototypes usually in 3-7 days after CAD lock and quotes in about 24 hours when the RFQ includes a logo file and target material. This page is how we keep your mark from disappearing before you print another batch label.
What Wash-Out Looks Like
Buyers describe three different failures as "logo gone":
- Logo faint or ghosted - cast never filled the mark; too shallow or air trapped
- Logo skips on some cavities - depth or emboss inconsistent across the tray
- Logo there on sample, gone in production - hotter pour, different wax fragrance load, or a "fixed" tray that was not revised
If pieces tear at the logo on demold, that is a different brief: sticky demold. If you only want the emboss decision, use emboss vs deboss. This page stays on why the mark disappears.
Four Causes We Check First
- Logo depth too shallow - under ~0.2 mm reads as no mark; over ~0.6 mm traps air on some pours
- Wrong emboss direction - recessed text on a flexible tray vs proud text on a hard cast behave differently
- Shore A too hard for the mark - soft detail needs a tray that releases without dragging the letter islands
- Pour too hot or too thin - chocolate / wax / resin flash past the cavity edges and blur the mark

Logo Depth and Mark Band
For brand-readable marks on chocolate, resin, wax, and soap we plan a band:
- 0.3-0.5 mm - safe for most embossed logos on Shore A 30-40 trays
- 0.5-0.6 mm - deep brand mark; needs vent path or slower pour so air escapes
- Under 0.2 mm - reads as texture, not a logo
- Over 0.8 mm with sharp islands - demold tear risk climbs
Keep stroke width above ~0.6-0.8 mm on small text; hairlines wash out first. Letter legibility limits: text legibility limits.
Emboss vs Deboss on Your Cast
Choose the mark direction for how the piece is read:
- Deboss (recessed logo in the cast) - safer for sticky confection and soft resin; the tray has a proud ridge
- Emboss (proud logo on the cast) - crisp on tempered chocolate and hard wax; needs clean cavity floor
- Mixed - one SKU with both on the same tray often fails; pick one per cavity face
Full comparison: logo emboss vs deboss. If your brand sells on both, split SKUs - do not make one tray do two jobs.
Shore A and Pour Temperature
- Shore A 20-30 - soft enough for deep undercuts, but fine logos can drag on demold; keep marks shallow
- Shore A 32-42 - better letter edges for chocolate / wax trays
- Hot pour into a cold tray - flash blurs the mark before it sets
- Fragrance-heavy wax - lowers surface tension; tiny logos flood
Hardness bands: Shore hardness guide. Match the approval pour to production chemistry - a cool sample hides a hot-pour wash-out.
Fix Table
| What you see | Likely cause | First fix |
|---|---|---|
| Logo ghosted on all cavities | Depth too shallow / air trap | Deepen to 0.3-0.5 mm; vent |
| Some cavities blank | Inconsistent depth or blocked vent | CAD check Z on that cavity; clean vent |
| Sample OK, production washed | Hotter production pour | Approve on production temp; adjust mark depth |
| Logo tears on demold | Too deep + too soft Shore | Shallow mark or Shore A 32-42 |
| Fine text unreadable | Stroke too thin | Widen stroke to ~0.6-0.8 mm |
What to Send for a Quote
- Vector logo (AI/SVG) and target mark size in mm
- Cast material and pour temperature
- Emboss or deboss preference - or "recommend"
- Photo of current tray logo if you already have one that washes
- Quantity path: prototype then MOQ 50
Manufacturer path: custom silicone mold manufacturer. Services: services. Chocolate product: custom silicone chocolate molds.
FAQ
Can you deepen a logo on an existing tray?
Treat it as a revision. Deepening means a new master and usually a new prototype pour.
Is emboss or deboss better for chocolate?
Deboss (recessed in the cast) is usually more forgiving on tempered chocolate. Emboss gives a crisp brand pop on hard wax.
Why did the sample show the logo but production did not?
Sample pours are often cooler or a different formula. Lock the approval pour to production chemistry.
How small can text be and still read?
Plan stroke width above ~0.6-0.8 mm on marks under 10 mm. Hairline serif fonts wash out first.
How fast can we test a deeper mark?
Prototype revisions usually land in 3-7 days after CAD approval at our shop.
