Preparing Logo Artwork for Silicone Molds

Good artwork handoff gives engineering enough information to convert a visual logo into controlled three-dimensional mold geometry.

Vector files help, but the mold also needs:

  • final logo size
  • raised or recessed result
  • feature depth
  • molded face
  • surface finish
  • casting material
  • acceptable simplification of very fine details

Preferred:

  • AI
  • EPS
  • SVG
  • vector PDF

Raster files can be reviewed, but may require redraw/vectorization.

Convert fonts to outlines where practical.

Expand strokes when the exact stroke geometry matters.

This reduces missing-font and line-weight ambiguity.

Do not send only the logo without scale.

State:

  • finished logo width/height
  • final product size
  • placement
  • orientation

Confirm the finished result first.

This determines whether the feature is raised or recessed in the mold cavity.

Depth must be balanced with:

  • stroke width
  • spacing
  • corner radii
  • fill
  • release
  • casting material

Select logo depth and stroke width for the dump material and release path, then verify fill and peel on the prototype.

Mark:

  • cosmetic face
  • no-seam areas
  • logo face
  • critical edges

before the mold split is finalized.

Specify:

  • polished
  • matte
  • textured
  • reference sample/photo

The mold reproduces the approved master finish.

Buyer should confirm the right to use the submitted logo/artwork.

If important, define:

  • NDA/confidentiality
  • CAD ownership
  • native-file release
  • master/tool custody
  • exclusivity
  • transfer rights

These are separate commercial/legal terms.

Can I send the artwork after the NDA is signed?

Yes.

Can I approve the final 3D render first?

Yes. Approve the modeled logo before tooling where new geometry is created.

Does paying a modeling fee mean I automatically own every source file?

Not automatically. Define deliverables/ownership in the quotation or agreement.

Send:

  • vector/raster file
  • finished size
  • raised/recessed
  • casting material
  • cosmetic face
  • surface finish
  • NDA requirement
  • file-delivery requirement if important

Is vector artwork mandatory?

No, but it is preferred.

Can you redraw low-resolution artwork?

Yes, if the scope is quoted.
