Catalog clamshell trays are fine until your scent brand is the shape. Then every Amazon review that says "half empty well" or "broke on demold" maps back to cavity volume and Shore - not the fragrance oil.

Cavity weight beats pretty renders
Pick a sellable gram number first. We volume the cavity to that fill - not the other way around. A recent snap-bar RFQ had six wells that looked equal in the photo and weighed 4.2 g to 6.1 g; we rebuilt the master to ±0.4 g before locking MOQ 50.

Clamshell pack-out and snap bars
Send the plastic clamshell inner dimensions or the snap-bar break pattern. A pretty melt that does not seat in the pack is a return. Snap grooves need draft or soft Shore so the break line does not tear the tray.
Spacing & sheet stiffness
- Leave real gaps between wells - crowding warps cool and weight. Layout notes: multi-cavity layout.
- Cavity walls usually 2.5-5 mm; frames 4-8 mm on wide sheets.
- Cool before peel. Warm wax + hard Shore = cracked tops and stuck scent wells.

Most clamshell and snap-bar sheets land in Shore A 30-40. Softer 28-35 helps deep scent-well textures; firmer 35-40 keeps large sheets from flopping when you demold warm wax.
