A small vacuum chamber does one job at a time. First pull: the mixed cup, under half full, until the foam climbs, collapses, and the surface goes quiet. Second pull: the flask after you pour, only if the box plus headspace still fit under the lid and pot life still has minutes. Trying to degas a 1.4 kg cup in a 5 L pot and the flask in the same cycle is how you paint the lid and pour craters. Chamber size is a cousin page. This page is the two-cycle SOP when the pot is what it is.

Does not apply when you are pressure-potting *resin into a finished mold* — that is a dump pot, not a rubber pot. It also does not apply when the mix is already climbing gel; a second pull will not save it. Food logos still want the cup pull even if the flask will not fit.

Cup pull, pour, flask pull — watch pot life

Vacuum minutes are work-time minutes. Start the clock at A meeting B. If the first pull ate half the pot life, the second pull is a short hold after pour, or you skip it and live with the bubbles you can still brush out with a detail coat. A winter thick mix climbs late; a Hong Kong summer mix climbs fast and dies faster. Do not copy a US kit video's "degas 5 minutes twice" onto either climate.

Flask pull needs even more unused height than the cup. The master is already in the box. Foam has nowhere to go but the lid and the keys. We would not flask-pull a 10A food tray that will slap into the lid and reprint that texture as the cavity.

The photo that would prove a double degas: cup in the pot with unused height, then flask in the pot with unused height, timestamps vs pot life. A pump CFM listing is not a cycle.

ISO 3302-1 M2 does not degas anything. CAD lock can include "we degas here" vs "you degas in a 5 L pot" so the shot size matches.

Detail coat still wets serifs. Vacuum does not. Two pulls on a starved logo well are two pulls of air over a dry letter.

Failure: lid rain, key foam, still pinholes

Symptom: cratered face; foam in keys; pinholes after two cycles.

Cause: fill too high; gasket leak; pot life gone; no detail coat; inhibition misread as bubbles.

Confirm: tack vs craters. Tack is poison or ratio. Craters are air. A 20 g slug that is glossy and cured means the kit is alive and the pot SOP is the problem.

Fix: split the shot, lower the fill, recast. Do not torch the food face. Do not add extra B to "thin for vacuum."

Loaded sag (~0.5–1.5 mm) is still a jacket conversation. Vacuum will not stiffen a tray.

A second pull on a flask that already gelled at the edges skins a crust and traps a mousse under it. If the pour no longer levels, skip pull 2.

Hobby "vacuum until it boils for ten minutes" on a small pot in summer is how you overflow and then gel. Watch the dome, not a timer screenshot.

Cycles we would not run

We would not recommend one overflowing pull instead of two honest ones.

We would not recommend flask-pulling a food logo into the lid.

We would not recommend skipping the cup pull because the flask "will get vacuum anyway."

We would not recommend a bigger pump as a substitute for headspace.

A tooling charge is not unrestricted ownership of our vacuum traveler.

Worked example: 5 L pot, 1.2 kg figurine, lid rain

Two-part figurine, 1.2 kg 1:1. Buyer did one pull on an 80%-full 2 L cup in a 5 L chamber; foam hit the lid; poured anyway; skipped flask pull because the box would not fit. Face craters. Recast as two 600 g cups, each pull 1, pour layers in the wet window, no flask pull. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock of the split. $50 CAD applied (photos). Production MOQ 20 of that design.

Layer pours are the other small-chamber tool. Two 600 g cups, each degassed, stacked in the flask while both are still wet, beat one 1.2 kg cup that paints the lid. Write the recoat window on the traveler. A cold master can skin the first layer before the second lands — warm the metal, do not torch the rubber. Food trays that must be one shot (no knit in a logo well) may simply need a bigger pot or a shop pour here, not a heroic double pull on a 2 L Amazon unit.

Gasket care is part of the SOP. A nicked lid gasket reads as "the rubber is full of bubbles" for a month. Check the gasket before you blame the grade. We would not quote a food 24-up to a buyer whose only pot is a 2 L unit without saying the shot will be split or poured here.

Mix-up: twice as long in one cycle equals two degasses

One long overflow is not two collapses. The other mix-up is pressure-potting the rubber in the flask and calling it vacuum. Pressure and vacuum are different pots.

What to ask when you're buying a small-pot pour

  • Chamber ID and unused height?
  • Shot mass, one cup or split?
  • Food logo (cup pull mandatory) vs craft block?
  • Who degasses — RUUIPON or you?
  • After CAD lock, 3–7 business days, then MOQ 20 / design?

FAQ

Should I degas RTV twice in a small chamber? Often: cup first, flask second only if it fits and pot life remains. Overflow once is not twice.

Can I skip the cup pull if I vacuum the whole mold box? We would not skip the cup pull on a food logo. Flask pull is optional extra.

Why pinholes after two cycles? Fill too high, leaky gasket, gelled mix, or a dry serif that wanted a detail coat.

Does a bigger pump replace the second pull? No. Headspace and timing. CFM is not unused height.

Does double degas change 3–7 days? No. The clock is CAD lock. A pot that cannot fit the shot is not locked. MOQ 20 per design.
