Mahjong Face in RTV: Relief Detail, Not a Spec
A mahjong face in an RTV tray can copy shallow strokes. The short is craft casting, not food contact, and not a 1:1 acceptance test.

Mahjong-tile cavity, craft dump
Tile face copied into a white RTV tray. Craft / resin job - do not read this as a food-contact mold.
The clip is a white RTV tray with rectangular pockets and one demolded tile held up to the camera. The face carries a carved mark. That is craft casting: resin, plaster, or a similar dump into a flexible cavity. It is not a chocolate tray and not a gummy tool.
A shallow stroke can copy into platinum RTV when the master is clean and the rubber can enter the trench. The on-screen line about 1:1 texture is a caption. It is not an acceptance method for every stroke width, every dump, or every batch. Resin mold structure still sits on the resin mold design tips.
What the Clip Actually Shows
The tray in the frame is an open multi-cavity sheet. Flat back, pockets on one face. On the RUUIPON Mold Structure Decision that stays an open-back tool as long as the tile has no reverse hook. A hollow tile, a closed handle, or a deep undercut on the edge leaves this page and needs a plug or a keyed split.
What you can see:
- a rectangular cavity family matched to a tile envelope;
- a face mark that copied from a master into the dump;
- a peel that leaves the tile in one piece without tearing the pocket.
What you cannot see: stroke width in millimetres, Shore A on the PO, vacuum on the rubber, or whether the next resin batch fills the same serifs.
Shallow Strokes vs Locked Counters
Relief on a tile face is a trench the rubber has to enter, then a ridge the dump has to leave. A shallow open stroke usually peels. A deep, narrow counter with a sharp return can lock the dump or tear the rubber when you flex the pocket.
Before you freeze a brand mark on a tile:
- send the artwork at the real face size, not a phone crop;
- name raised or recessed on the finished piece;
- check the smallest stroke and the gap between strokes;
- say what you pour - epoxy, polyurethane, plaster, or something else.
A deeper logo is not automatically clearer. On a small face it often traps air or chips the dump.
Typical Shop Checks
| Check | What we use in talk | What the clip does not prove |
|---|---|---|
| Open-back craft tile | Often Shore A 15-25 so the pocket peels a shallow face | The exact grade in the video |
| Thin wall on a long sheet | Often Shore A 20-30 when a board holds the span | Loaded sag on this tray |
| Platinum linear shrink | Often about 0.1-0.3% | That shrink is why a face looks sharp in the photo |
| Face stroke | Review at finished size; deep narrow counters lock first | A millimetre depth from the thumbnail |
If the sheet is large and soft, outer pockets can deform when you carry a full pour. That is a span and support problem, not a reason to harden every cavity until the face will not peel.
We Would Not Quote the Caption
We would not:
- treat “1:1 texture” or “every piece equally flawless” as a QC method;
- put this tray on a food RFQ. The dump in the clip is craft;
- copy a chocolate or gummy document pack onto this tool;
- price a steel compression part from a mahjong short;
- promise a cycle count from one demold on camera.
RUUIPON pours the RTV tool in Bao'an, Shenzhen, and has since 2018. Production is MOQ 20 pieces per design. Simple 3D is USD 50 when that CAD scope applies. A prototype is 3-7 business days after CAD lock. Those numbers come from the shop quote, not from the short.
Send This With the Tile
- Tile length, width, and thickness, or a photo with a scale.
- Artwork at face size, and whether the mark should be raised or recessed on the finished piece.
- What you pour into the cavity.
- Cavity count and the largest tray you can handle when full.
- Whether any edge undercut needs a slit, a plug, or a split.
The product page for this family is custom silicone resin molds. One-piece vs split structure is on one-piece vs two-piece. Shop scope is on the Shenzhen manufacturer page.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the video prove every stroke will copy 1:1?
No. It shows one demolded face from one tray. Stroke width, dump viscosity, and vacuum still decide the next lot.
Is a mahjong mold food-contact?
Not from this clip. The dump is craft. Food trays need their own compound and document pack.
Can you copy my game tile from a phone photo?
For a first review, yes. Critical face marks still need size and a clean artwork file before we lock the master.
Do I need a two-part mold for a flat tile?
Usually no, if the back is flat and the edge has no reverse hook. Deep undercuts change that.
Will harder silicone keep the face sharper?
Harder rubber can hold a thin wall, but it also peels less. Face sharpness usually starts with the master and the dump, not with a Shore bump alone.
