One-Piece vs Split Silicone Tool: When a Cookie-Tray Pull Cannot Leave the Cavity
Soft Shore does not delete a hook. If the part cannot leave, we name split, flatten, or redesign before you pay for a pretty one-piece master.

Demold vector first. Shore second.

A one-piece tray is cheaper to pour and easier to restock. It is the default when draft and undercuts allow a cookie-tray pull. Jewelry with hooked bails, candle pillars with reverse draft, and soap with locked undercuts are the usual fails.
RUUIPON since 2018 in Shenzhen. MOQ 20. Prototype 3-7 days after CAD lock. Quote ~24h on complete files. Sister-brand plant/mogul copy is a different lane.
When one-piece still wins
Open bowls, chocolate bars with shallow logos, open tarts, ice with a stick channel designed as a slot, not a hidden hook. Draft 1-3 degrees on walls when we can.
Open cavity
The part leaves along one vector. No hidden hook.
Island meat
Letters thick enough for pull 5.
Brand restock
One sheet family is easier to archive.
When we push a split instead of hoping Shore will stretch
A split is two (or more) tool faces that meet on a parting line. Flash risk rises. Labor rises. It is still cheaper than a locked one-piece that you destroy on demold 2.
We will screenshot the lock. You pick split, flatten the undercut, or change the design. We will not rubber-stamp a hooked bail as a one-piece cookie tray.
Keep the undercut vs flatten for ads
If the listing photo cannot lose 0.3-0.5 mm of undercut, write KEEP. Otherwise we recommend flatten and you will fight after the sample. Live ads on a hooked render make this worse - say so on the RFQ.
Jewelry: bails and undercuts are first-class
Earrings and charms fail as one-piece more than chocolate. Scale is small. Islands are thin. A bail that hooks is a split or a redesign. We do not machine your metal jewelry. We cut the silicone tool.
Wax pillars vs tarts
Pillars lock on reverse draft. Tarts stick in the last 2 mm. Those are different quotes. Peak melt C still belongs on the RFQ. Not food unless you said edible.
What a split costs you (without fake USD)
More CAD time, a parting line, more flash cleanup on your pour, slower cycle. We will not invent a dollar number here. We will say it is a different quote line than a one-piece sheet.
MOQ is still 20 trays per design for the tool family we quote. A split is not a way to dodge MOQ.
What this service is not
Not a steel two-plate injection lesson. Not a plant depositor nest. Not RapidDirect's CNC mill catalog. We will not fake 700 machines.
RFQ
STL/STEP in mm. Mark KEEP or FLATTEN on undercuts. Pour. FOOD-CONTACT or CRAFT. Photos of the listing if ads are live.
