Best RTV Silicone for Mold Making by Pour | RUUIPON
Best mold silicone is the drum that matches the dump: food, resin, wax, plaster, concrete. Platinum vs tin, Shore, jacket. MOQ 20, $50 CAD when it applies.
There is no single "best silicone for mold making." There is a drum that matches the dump, the master, and how long the tool must live. Food-contact cavities want platinum (addition-cure), a wash SOP, and article documents — not a tin kit and not a factory stamp. Resin, wax, and soap usually want platinum for library recast and low leftover odor. Dirty architectural masters and short concrete runs can still justify tin if you accept ongoing shrink. Shore is peel, not a quality grade. Jacket is stiffness. Mix is 1:1 or 10:1 by weight.

RUUIPON picks the drum in Bao'an / Shajing since 2018. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock. Production MOQ 20 pieces per design. Simple 3D is USD $50 when that CAD scope applies. Platinum shrink after full cure typically about 0.1–0.3%. Molded silicone *parts* (HCR/LSR) are a different "best" — wydsilicone.com.
Does not apply when you need a compression or LSR grade for a gasket you will sell as a part. It also does not apply to caulk-tube DIY; we would not spec that for production or food.

| Dump family | Chemistry we start | Cavity Shore (start) | Jacket | Library next season | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Food (chocolate, gummy, baking path) | Platinum | 20A–40A trays; 10A–20A gloves | Often yes on sheets | Yes | 21 CFR 177.2600 / LFGB on the article, not a factory stamp |
| Resin / PU / UV | Platinum | 10A–20A | Yes if tall or wet | Yes | Seal SLA masters; watch inhibition |
| Wax / soap | Platinum | 10A–30A | As span needs | Yes | Tin leftover odor is a return |
| Plaster / gypsum dump | Platinum default | 10A–20A | Yes on large tiles | Yes | Master plaster still needs sealer |
| Concrete / abrasive | Platinum if library; tin if disposable | 20A-ish with jacket | Yes | Platinum yes; tin no | Abrasion spends cycle life |
| Dirty sulfur clay original, short run | Tin in play | Match peel | As needed | No | Write disposable + drift on the PO |

Highest Shore is not best. 40A on a hooked figurine grabs and tears. 10A on a half-sheet without a jacket dishes 0.5–1.5 mm. Structure first — open-back vs split.

Food vs resin vs concrete is three cabinets
Platinum is the catalyst family, not a food stamp. See what platinum-cured means. Tin is not "craft grade" as a compliment; it is a shrink-and-odor trade. Concrete abrasion will wear any soft skin; jacket and expect recast.
CBD/THC work on this site is tooling only. We will pour a platinum cavity that matches your depositor or dump, and we will not write dosing, medical, or efficacy claims on the traveler. The "best" drum for that RFQ is still platinum plus the same food-doc path your copacker asked for, or a craft platinum if the copacker is not food. Do not order tin because the SKU is cannabis-adjacent.
Color in the rubber is not a dump family. A red 15A platinum is still 15A platinum. Pigment does not make it food-contact and does not make it concrete-grade. Ask for the dump row first; tint second if the operator needs to see flash. ISO 3302-1 M2 is a drawing class on the dump, not a drum name.
Witness the real dump before you lock the drum
Witness dump of the real chemistry at the real peak °C into a prototype skin. Check release, tear, odor, and size against the signed sample. We do not publish fake cycle counts. Recast from the unsanded master when the face spends.

Drums we would not call "best"
We would not recommend tin for a food-contact cavity.
We would not recommend the highest Shore A as a default.
We would not recommend one tray for chocolate and epoxy.
We would not recommend a leftover craft kit as the production drum because it was "already paid for."
A tooling charge is not unrestricted ownership of the TDS or the master.
Worked example: one mascot, three dump cabinets
Three dumps, one mascot: chocolate, PU figurine, concrete paver. We quoted three tools. Chocolate: platinum 25A open-back tray, food-doc path. PU: platinum 15A keyed split, jacket. Concrete: platinum 20A skin, plaster mother, recast plan. Prototype 3–7 business days after each CAD lock. $50 3D applied once to rebuild the mascot from photos, then reused. Production MOQ 20 per design, three designs. A "best silicone" one-kit ask would have failed two of the three cabinets.
Mix-up: buying the highest Shore as "best"
Shore is peel-feel. Best is dump + master + library. The other mix-up is treating platinum as FDA-approved factory rubber. Extraction is on the article.

FAQ
What is the best silicone for resin molds? Platinum, Shore from peel, jacket if the pour is tall, sealed master. Tin if the master is dirty and the tool is disposable.
Is platinum always better than tin? Better for library size and odor. Worse against some dirty masters unless you seal. Chart the dump.
Can one Shore do food and concrete? You can pick a number. You should not share the cavity across cabinets.
Does 10:1 mean professional and 1:1 mean hobby? They are mix ratios by weight, not a quality ladder.
If I pay tooling, can I change drums later? A recast from the unsanded master can change grade. A tooling charge is not unrestricted ownership of that master.
