RTV glove molds and HTV compression parts are two factories. How to tell which object you buy, when steel/LSR goes to WYD, and what RUUIPON will quote.

RTV and HTV are not two hardnesses of the same custom mold. RTV (room-temperature-vulcanizing) is the liquid A/B we pour around a master to make a *tool* — a glove, a split, a jacketed tray you dump chocolate, resin, soap, or plaster into. HTV / HCR (high-temperature vulcanizing, millable rubber) is compression molding of a *part* in a steel or aluminum tool: mill, pigment, preform, press, flash land, deflash, post-cure. RUUIPON quotes the first object only. We have done that RTV work in Bao'an since 2018. MOQ 20 pieces per design. Prototype 3–7 business days after CAD lock. HTV compression parts, and LSR injection with a heated cavity and a cold-runner, belong on wydsilicone.com. We will not write those processes onto a RUUIPON PI as if the same shop were cutting steel.
Does not apply when you already know you need a steel gummy *part* tool or a compression gasket. Skip this comparison and open the WYD RFQ. Also does not apply to a one-off art glove you will pour twice — that is still RTV here, even at low quantity. Geometry can override quantity: a huge cored concrete jacket can cost more than a small compression part, and it is still a mold.
What you are actually buying when you say "silicone mold"
Search results mix three nouns.
The RTV tool (this site). Master, mold box, platinum or tin A/B, vacuum, keys, jacket, recast. You own a cavity. You pour something else into it. Mix 1:1 or 10:1. Platinum shrink typically 0.1–0.3%. Shore 10A–20A on gloves, 20A–40A on many food trays.
The HCR compression part. Millable rubber, heated steel, flash. Shrink typically 1.5–2.5%. You receive the silicone article. We do not quote that cell on ruuipon.com.
The LSR injection part. Cavity heated; runner usually cold-runner. Shrink typically 2–3%. Never "LIM hot tool" as a nickname on either site. Also not a RUUIPON quote.

When the RTV glove is the right tool
Run the RUUIPON Mold Structure Decision on the cavity, not on a press tonnage chart.
- Flat back? Open-back skin. Jacket if the wet load will sag (0.5–1.5 mm is a typical unsupported edge).
- Deep undercuts that still peel? One-piece glove, often 10A–20A.
- Undercuts that will not peel? Two-part, plug, or core, with keys.
- Large wet casting? Mother mold.
That decision does not become "so cut steel" because someone said HTV. Steel is a different object: you would be molding silicone *parts* or cutting a high-volume candy *tool* in metal. Volume plus cavity-weight CTQ can eventually push a gummy program off RTV trays — that routing is a WYD conversation, not a RUUIPON compression quote.
ISO 3302-1 (M2 as a common default) is a rubber class you put on a *part* drawing. On an RTV cavity 2D it still means tolerance class, not "this glove is precision HTV."

LSR, for completeness of contrast only: shrink often 2–3%, cold-runner, heated cavity. Still WYD.

Common mix-up: same Shore A, same quote
A buyer sends "Shore 30A silicone mold, 500 pcs" with a figurine outline. One shop hears 500 RTV gloves of a resin character. Another hears 500 compression-molded silicone figurines. Both say 30A. The PI, the shrink, the tool steel, and the factory are unrelated. Tell us whether you pour PU into a cavity or you sell a silicone figurine. We will quote the cavity or we will point you at WYD. We will not split the difference on one line item.
Worked example (anonymized)
A resin character, 120 mm, deep undercuts, 30 gloves. We named a two-part platinum glove with keys (peel would have torn a one-piece), $50 CAD only to add the shut the STL was missing, locked CAD, poured in the 3–7 business day window, then MOQ 20 of that design (they took 30 as two steps: sample then the 20+ balance). A sister SKU wanted the *character itself* in silicone, Shore 30A, 5,000 pcs. That sister RFQ went to wydsilicone.com as HCR compression. Same outline. Two factories. We did not price a steel tool on a RUUIPON letterhead.
Geometry can override quantity — process still cannot
A 40-piece concrete planter jacket with a core can be a larger RTV job than a 400-piece chocolate open-back. That is still a RUUIPON mold. A 20-piece silicone handle you intend to sell as the product is still a WYD part even though 20 matches our tray MOQ. Buyers mix those because both emails say "custom silicone" and both mention Shore A. Put the object noun on the first line of the RFQ: cavity or article. If you are unsure, send a photo of what leaves your factory. If what leaves is candy, resin, or soap, you needed a cavity. If what leaves is the silicone thing itself, you needed WYD.

We would not recommend picking RTV because our MOQ is 20 if what you actually need is a million silicone parts.
We would not recommend copying platinum 0.1–0.3% shrink onto an HCR 1.5–2.5% tool and expecting the article to fit the same STEP.
We would not recommend a one-piece glove on a closed bail "because RTV is soft." Split it.

FAQ
Is HTV just a harder RTV mold? No. HTV/HCR is millable rubber pressed as a part in steel. RTV is liquid rubber poured as a tool. Same polymer family, different factory.
Can RUUIPON compression-mold my silicone product? Not as a RUUIPON quote. That cell is WYD. We stay on the RTV cavity.
Why do shrink numbers disagree between two quotes? Platinum RTV cavities sit around 0.1–0.3%. HCR parts often 1.5–2.5%. LSR often 2–3%. Unmix them on the CAD.
I need 20 silicone grips. Is that your MOQ 20? Twenty *molds per design* is our tray MOQ. Twenty grips are parts. Different site.
Can I prototype in RTV then jump to HTV without a new shrink CAD? You can use RTV to learn the shape. You cannot freeze HCR steel from an uncompensated RTV master. Rebuild the part CAD for that shrink before anyone cuts steel at WYD.
