USD $50 3D Modeling When CAD Scope Applies | RUUIPON

Simple 3D modeling on a RUUIPON RTV job is USD $50 when that CAD scope applies. The fee turns a measured photo pack, a sketch, or a rough STL into a cavity model you can mark — millimetres, logo depth, split land — before we cut a master. It is not a “low design fee,” not unlimited art direction, and not a sculpture-rebuild rate. If you already send a watertight, mold-ready STEP in millimetres, we skip the line. If you send a worn figurine and ask us to reconstruct hair, that is a separate quote.

Prototype time is 3–7 business days after CAD lock, which is after you sign that model. Production is MOQ 20 pieces per design. Bao’an since 2018. LSR/HCR *part* CAD lives on wydsilicone.com.

Does not apply when the file is already mold-ready STEP, when you only need a Shore chip, or when you want us to reverse-engineer a competitor’s tray from one unscaled selfie and freeze twenty copies. We will not lock rubber from that selfie.

What fifty dollars is for — and what it is not

In scope (USD $50 when we agree the pack is this job):

• Photos with a millimetre ruler in the same plane, four views, plus one named size or gram target, turned into a simple cavity.
• A sketch or 2D with overalls, turned into a shallow open-back pocket you can mark.
• A rough STL whose units we can trust, cleaned into something we can draft and split.

Out of scope (quoted separately, still not a “design fee” slogan):

• Full reconstruction of a worn sculpture, hair, fabric folds, or a sample you do not want copied as-is.
• A 24- or 48-up cavity map with a gram model and jacket solid.
• Logo art that has to be redrawn from a 72 dpi PNG with no vectors.
• Any work that is really DFM of a two-part with plugs and a core.

We confirm scope before chargeable modeling. The $50 is a gate so millimetres exist. It does not buy revision loops after you change the brand twice.

The photo that would prove the fee was in scope is the input pack (ruler in frame) next to the first model screenshot with a dimension, next to your written “lock.” A moodboard of competitor trays is not that pack.

Common mix-up: calling it a cheap design service

Market-page copy that says “low design fee” trains buyers to send a PNG and expect unlimited styling. We will not write that phrase. Fifty dollars is CAD scope, not branding. The other mix-up is starting the 3–7 day clock at the first photo. Rubber time starts at lock. Paying the $50 also does not transfer unrestricted ownership of the CAD unless the PO says the file is yours to take to another shop.

ISO 3302-1 M2 on the drawing is a rubber class. It does not appear because we modeled something.

Worked example (anonymized)

A soap brand sent three phone photos of a competitor bar, no ruler, “make it 100 g.” That pack was not $50 scope — we asked for a millimetre on the long edge and outlined vectors for the stamp. They came back with a ruler shot and an AI file. Then the $50 model applied: we built a 0.4 mm recessed mark off the parting land, they locked, prototype 3–7 business days, then MOQ 20. A week of “just make it look premium” would have been a reconstruction quote, and we would have said so before anyone billed fifty dollars.

We would not recommend

We would not recommend advertising a “low design fee.” The words under-sell the master and over-sell the art.

We would not recommend freezing production from an unscaled photo even if someone offers to “include 3D free.”

We would not recommend using the $50 line to skip DFM on an undercut figurine. Structure still needs the Mold Structure Decision.

What to ask when you are buying CAD

• Is the $50 line in scope, skipped, or is this a reconstruction quote?
• When does CAD lock happen, and when does the 3–7 day clock start?
• Who owns the model after I pay fifty dollars?
• Will you mark logo depth and the parting land on that model before rubber?
• If I change the brand after lock, is that a new $50, a recast, or a new design (another 20)?

How we would gate the fee (method)

Four yeses → $50 when we confirm. Any no on reconstruction-level detail → separate quote. We would not take the fifty and then surprise you with a sculpture invoice.

Clock, lock, and who marks the model

We will not start A/B until you have seen a dimensioned view — overalls, logo depth if any, and the land if we are splitting. Your “OK” on a pretty grey render without millimetres is not lock. If the first model shows an undercut the photos hid, we stop and walk the Mold Structure Decision (open-back / split / plug / core) before anyone pays for rubber. That stop is DFM, not a second $50 by default; a second fifty only happens if you throw the model away and send a new photo pack.

Food-contact does not live inside the modeling line. Name 21 CFR 177.2600 and/or LFGB on the RFQ so the *rubber* grade is right. The CAD fee does not buy a factory stamp.

FAQ

Is the $50 always billed? Only when that CAD scope applies. Mold-ready STEP skips it. Say so on the RFQ.

Why won’t you call it a low design fee? Because the words imply branding-on-a-budget. The line is modeling so millimetres exist. The master, rubber, and jacket are the rest of the stack.

Can fifty dollars buy a 24-cavity gram-accurate tray map? Usually no. That is layout work. We will quote it as layout, not as simple 3D.

If I pay $50, do I own the CAD to take elsewhere? Not unless the PO says so. Tooling charge and modeling charge are not unrestricted file transfer.

Does the prototype clock include modeling time? No. 3–7 business days start after CAD lock. Modeling sits before that lock.
