Acidic Food and Hot Candy: Use Conditions on RTV
Acidic food and hot candy are not automatically incompatible with platinum RTV. They are a use-condition problem: chemistry, contact time, temperature profile, and pigment. If you are dumping hot pectin, hard candy, or a long acidic soak into a silicone tray, this page is that matrix. A maximum-temperature bullet on a TDS is not a process validation.

Define chemistry and time
Write pH or acid type if you know it, sugar / solids, peak C, how long the food sits, and whether the tray is washed hot every cycle. A short hot deposit is not a long acidic immersion. A baking tray is not a beverage garnish mold.

Temperature is a profile
Peak C, time at peak, and cooldown all matter. A tray that handles a brief hot dump can still mark or swell on a long hold. Acidic food is not a yes/no silicone question. It is whether the compound, pigment, and paper match that profile.
Worked example: hot pectin
Typical job, not a named PO. Buyer sent "food-grade, 230 C." The line dumped pectin well below that, for seconds, then cooled. We asked for peak C, dwell, and the importer paper list instead of a TDS max-temperature copy.
