Gummy Mold Size Chart: What to Measure Before You Lock Cavities
Use piece grams, cavity footprint, and tray OD — not a universal size catalog. What to send RUUIPON before CAD.

On this page
RUUIPON is a Shenzhen custom silicone mold shop since 2018. MOQ 50 per design. Complete RFQs typically get a quote within about 24 hours. Prototypes commonly take 3–7 business days after CAD lock. Food-contact material and test documentation may be available depending on the selected material and destination market. We do not claim an FDA-certified factory, invent cycle life, or sell mold-release chemicals.

Weight to Volume Conversion
Using the Formula
Volume (mL) = Weight (g) ÷ Density (g/mL)
Typical gummy mass densities:
- Standard gummy: 1.2-1.3 g/mL
- Dense gummy (high fiber): 1.3-1.4 g/mL
- Light gummy (aerated): 1.1-1.2 g/mL
Quick Reference Table
| Target Weight | Volume (mL) at 1.2 g/mL | Volume (mL) at 1.3 g/mL | Volume (mL) at 1.4 g/mL |
|---|---|---|---|
| 0.5g | 0.42 | 0.38 | 0.36 |
| 1.0g | 0.83 | 0.77 | 0.71 |
| 1.5g | 1.25 | 1.15 | 1.07 |
| 2.0g | 1.67 | 1.54 | 1.43 |
| 2.5g | 2.08 | 1.92 | 1.79 |
| 3.0g | 2.50 | 2.31 | 2.14 |
| 4.0g | 3.33 | 3.08 | 2.86 |
| 5.0g | 4.17 | 3.85 | 3.57 |
| 8.0g | 6.67 | 6.15 | 5.71 |
| 10.0g | 8.33 | 7.69 | 7.14 |
| 12.0g | 10.00 | 9.23 | 8.57 |
| 15.0g | 12.50 | 11.54 | 10.71 |
Cavity Dimension Calculations
For Rectangular Cavities
Volume = Length × Width × Depth
Solving for Depth: Depth = Volume ÷ (Length × Width)
Example: 2.0g gummy, target 25mm × 20mm Volume = 2.0 ÷ 1.3 = 1.54 mL = 1,540 mm³ Depth = 1,540 ÷ (25 × 20) = 3.08mm
For Round Cavities
Volume = π × r² × h
Solving for height: h = Volume ÷ (π × r²)
Example: 2.0g gummy, diameter 20mm Radius = 10mm h = 1,540 ÷ (3.14159 × 100) = 4.9mm
For Complex Shapes
For irregular shapes (bears, characters, custom forms):
- Create a 3D model of the desired shape
- Calculate the volume using CAD software
- Adjust dimensions to achieve target volume
- Account for silicone expansion (0.1-0.3%)
Tray Size Recommendations

FAQ
Q: How do I calculate the right cavity size for my product? A: Use our cavity size calculator or contact us with your target weight and product shape. We'll calculate the optimal cavity dimensions.
Q: Can I adjust cavity size after ordering? A: No, cavity size is determined during the design phase. However, we offer redesign services if your requirements change.
Q: What if my gummy density varies by batch? A: We recommend testing with a prototype mold first. If density varies significantly, we can adjust cavity dimensions for your specific formulation.
Q: Do you provide weight verification data? A: Yes, every production mold includes a cavity weight verification chart documenting weight consistency across all cavities.
