RTV Quote Stack: Master, CAD, Rubber, Jacket | RUUIPON

A custom RTV mold quote is master, CAD, mixed rubber, and jacket — not a website price. USD $50 only when CAD scope applies. MOQ 20 per design.

RTV Quote Stack: Master, CAD, Rubber, Jacket | RUUIPON

A custom RTV mold does not have a useful catalog price because you are buying a stack, not a SKU. On our Bao’an quotes the stack is master, CAD, mixed rubber, and jacket (plus the prototype clock and the production lot). We will line-item those. We will not invent a USD total on this page, and we will not hide a steel LSR *part* tool inside a “mold cost” cell. Simple 3D is USD $50 when that CAD scope applies — clean mold-ready STEP can skip the line. Prototype is commonly 3–7 business days after CAD lock. Production is MOQ 20 pieces per design after you sign the witness.

If the PDF in your inbox is full of cold-runners and heated manifolds, you are looking at a molded silicone *part*. That bid belongs on wydsilicone.com.

Does not apply when you need a $10 stock ice cube, when you are comparing DDP landing cost without an Incoterm, or when the object is thousands of vulcanized spatulas. Those are the wrong spend on this URL.

Four lines that have to sit on the PI

Master. CNC, a fully post-cured and sealed SLA, or work on a sample you ship. Surface and size start here. A dirty SLA that inhibits platinum is a wasted pour — still cost, even though no mill time was booked. Who keeps the master after the tooling charge is a PO sentence, not a vibe. A tooling charge is not unrestricted ownership.

CAD. USD $50 when we must turn photos, a sketch, or a rough STL into a cavity you can mark. Reconstruction of a worn sculpture, a 48-up cavity map with a gram model, or reverse-engineering a sample you do not want copied as-is is quoted separately. Never treat that fifty dollars as branding-on-a-budget or unlimited art direction.

Rubber. Mixed platinum (or tin, if we would even spec it) A/B, vacuum degas, the pour, the pull. Volume moves with block size, wall, cores, and flange — not with “a bigger logo.” Food-contact grades and a 21 CFR 177.2600 / LFGB pack on *this* article cost more than craft tin. The PDF is not a texture.

Jacket. Rigid support so a 10A–20A skin does not balloon. Keys often live here. Skipping the jacket to save a line is how a loaded edge sags 0.5–1.5 mm and outer-row grams drift 3–6%. Recast of the *skin* later is usually cheaper than a new jacket if the jacket still keys.

Sampling sits next to the stack: the 3–7 day prototype after CAD lock is the first working tool, not a free swatch. Production at 20 per design is a separate line. Freight and Incoterms (EXW, FOB, DDP) sit after the stack — they are not a fifth way to hide rubber volume.

Common mix-up: the cheaper PDF wins, objects do not match

One bidder poured a sample jacket. The other quoted a cold-runner for a silicone toy of the same outline. Purchasing filed both as “mold cost.” You cannot compare until master / CAD / rubber / jacket / recast sit on separate lines and the object is named RTV cavity. The other mix-up is asking us to “include UL 94 V-0 in the mold price.” UL 94 is a specimen class at a thickness, not a tray texture.

Worked example (anonymized)

A 12-cavity 18 mm bear, food-contact, about 4.0 g, 2,000 dumps a month. The stack was: CNC master; no $50 CAD because they sent STEP; platinum A/B for twelve pockets plus border; rigid jacket so the sheet would not sag; recast of the skin listed as a later option. Comparing that PI to an LSR toy quote of the same outline would have been two objects. They signed the weigh sheet, then cut MOQ 20. Geometry can override quantity: a three-piece jacket with an inner core for a 45 mm hollow chocolate at 200 pours a month can cost more than a simple 12-up tray at 4,000 dumps.

We would not recommend

We would not recommend a lump “silicone mold — $X” line. Split the stack.

We would not recommend buying 16 cavities on an open logo. Extra rubber is extra recast.

We would not recommend lining this stack against an LSR cold-runner and picking the smaller number.

What to ask when you are buying

  • Can you break master, CAD, mixed rubber, jacket, sampling, and recast into lines?
  • Is the $50 CAD line in scope, skipped because I sent STEP, or is this a reconstruction quote?
  • Is this RTV mold-making, or HCR/LSR *parts*?
  • Who owns the master and jacket after payment, and may the shop keep a copy?
  • What quantity band is the unit price built on — the prototype, or 20 per design?

FAQ

Can you give me a price range on this page? No. Size, split, rubber volume, and jacket move the number more than a logo file. Send the stack inputs.

Is the $50 3D always on the PI? Only when that CAD scope applies. Mold-ready STEP can skip it. A sculpture rebuild is not fifty dollars.

Why is the jacket its own line? Because skipping it changes grams and tear, not just the photo. Soft skin plus wet dump wants support.

Do food-contact docs live inside mold cost? Name 21 CFR 177.2600 / LFGB on the RFQ. They are a pack on the finished article, not an “FDA-approved factory” stamp and not a sister LSR PDF.

If I pay tooling, do I own the CAD? Not unless the PO says so. Tooling charge ≠ unrestricted ownership of master, jacket, or files.
